May 2014 ~ 10 on 10 | A Personal Project

“YESSSS! Shorts weather!” Danny yelled a few days ago, taking the stairs two at a time for a last minute change, even though ditching pants meant being late for school. So, so happy for green grass again. Even P. Diddy is on cloud nine after weed-grazing in the backyard (psst, our guinea pig, yo. dandelion, yo.)

Skateboarding and playing at the fort are top priorities after school. The driveway and front lawn are strewn with bikes; I photograph this because I want to remember. As dusk falls, the kitchen is a mess, chores forgotten. Our big kids play outside with their friends, “one last game” that’s always way too long to actually be just one game. We pretend not to realize. Their voices breeze in through the open front window: “Helicopter, helicopter please come down!” So this is what it feels like to relive childhood. Celebratory. Free.

I photographed this month’s 10 on 10 on one of those days where the sun shifts in and out of the clouds as often as siblings change from friends to enemies and back again.

I love those little cubby fingers! There are so many ups and downs in life, that I feel it’s important to capture all sides of your children so that in the future they can remember how they became strong and balanced individuals (hopefully) :).

What a range of emotions and feels. Agree w/ Sarah, the last image is sad but it’s real and I love it. The BW hands shot is stunning!

Sarah

ok that last one made me sad 🙁

Your May looks a lot like our house with the ups and downs. I LOVE #4.
